How To Root The Droid Razr M

This guide will show you how to root the popular Droid Razr M phone from Motorola.

What is needed to root the Droid Razr M?

In order to root the Droid Razr M you will need the following.

  • The Droid Razr M you want to root in your hand.
  • A PC.

Step 1 – Download the USB drivers for the Droid Razr M to your PC

In order for your PC to recognize the Droid Razr Mas part of the rooting process you first must download and install the USB drivers on to your PC.

You can download the USB drivers for the Droid Razr M from here.

Once you have downloaded them run the main program file to make sure the drivers are installed.

Step 2 – Download the Droid Razr M root file

You need to download a root file first to root the Droid Razr M.

You can download the file from here.

Save it to an easy to find location on your PC such as your desktop and extract it to its own folder.

Step 3 – Enable USB debugging on the Droid Razr M

In order for your PC to recognise the Droid Razr M when you plug it in to perform rooting you must first enable USB debugging on the phone itself.  This is done by doing the following.

Go to Settings> Developer options on your phone and enable USB Debugging.

Step 4 – Root the Droid Razr M

Now that you have downloaded the root file to your PC and installed the USB drivers for the device and enabled USB debugging on the device it is time to root the device.

Simply connect the device to your PC using the USB cable and tap OK on the device when prompted.

On your PC browse to the folder from step 2 you extracted the root file to and run the install.bat file and then follow the steps that appear to root the device.

Once the device is rooted it will reboot and you will now see the SuperSU icon which shows that the device has been successfully rooted and you can disconnect it from your PC.
