How To Root The Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679)

This guide will show you how to root the popular Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679) phone from Samsung.

What is needed to root the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679)?

In order to root the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679) you will need the following.

  • The Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679) you want to root in your hand.
  • A PC

Step 1 – Download the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679) root package and custom recovery

Now that we have installed the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679) USB drivers and downloaded Odin we now need to download the root package to be used for the rooting process.

You can download the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679) root package from here.

Save it in an easy to find location on your PC such as the desktop. Do not extract it.

You also need to install a custom recovery on to the device before you can root it. You can download it from here.

Step 2 – Copy the root package to the device

Connect the device to your PC. Copy the root file you downloaded in step 1 to an easy to find location on the device such as the Downloads folder.

Copy the custom recovery file you downloaded in step 1 to the device also.

Step 3 – Install a custom recovery

We now need to put it in to recovery mode.

  • Make sure the device is powered off completely
  • Hold down Volume Up + Home + Power together until the phone turns on again and boots in to recovery mode.

Once the phone has booted in to recovery mode go to Install zip from SD card (External Storage).

Browse to the custom recovery zip file you just copied to the phone and then install it and wait for it to finish.

Once done go back to the main recovery menu and reboot the phone.

Step 4 – Root the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679)

Once the phone reboots completely turn it off and put it in to recovery mode again.

This time, when you do so, the custom recovery should load that you downloaded in step 1.

Once the phone has booted in to recovery mode go to Install zip from SD card (External Storage).

This time browse to the root zip file you copied to the device and install it.

Reboot the device when complete.

When the device reboots you should see the SuperSU application meaning that you have successfully rooted the device.
