Before performing any of these steps make sure you back up your Android device completely.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>What do you need to root the Motorola Moto E?<\/h2>\n<p>In order to root the Motorola Moto E you will need the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Motorola Moto E you wish to root in your hand<\/li>\n<li>Access to a PC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 1 \u2013 Unlock the bootloader of the Motorola Moto E<\/h2>\n<p>Before you can root the device you must first unlock the bootloader of the device.<\/p>\n<p>In order to be able to root the Motorola Moto E you need to unlock the bootloader. Once the bootloader is unlocked it allows you to then connect the Motorola Moto E to your PC and perform the rooting process.<\/p>\n<p>You can start the bootloader unlock process <a href=\"https:\/\/motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com\/app\/standalone\/bootloader\/unlock-your-device-a\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>How it works is that you have to connect the Motorola Moto E to your PC, run a command to get a unique token and then you put that in to the Motorola bootloader website and get a response back which you enter on the PC and then the Motorola Moto E will do its magic and unlock the bootloader ready for the next step.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2 \u2013 Download and install and set up ADB on your PC<\/h2>\n<p>You must download and install ADB on your PC. We show you how to do that <a href=\"\/?p=9493\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3 \u2013 Copy SuperSU to the Motorola Moto E<\/h2>\n<p>Download SuperSU from <a href=\"http:\/\/download.chainfire.eu\/451\/SuperSU\/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip\">here<\/a> and save it to a convenient location on your PC such as the desktop.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have done that connect the Motorola Moto E to your PC and copy the SuperSU zip file to an easy to find location on the Motorola Moto E such as the Downloads folder.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4 \u2013 Install a custom recovery on the Motorola Moto E<\/h2>\n<p>To be able to root the device, after unlocking the bootloader and copying SuperSU to the device you must then install a custom recovery.<\/p>\n<p>You can download Clockworkmod recovery from <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/uc?export=download&amp;id=0B2FRr4c4c1g8YlY3cmEzSkR0UzA\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Save the Clockworkmod file you downloaded to the <strong>Platform-Tools <\/strong>folder where you installed ADB on your PC in step 2.<\/p>\n<p>You now need to boot the Motorola Moto E in to recovery mode.<\/p>\n<p>To do this do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure the Motorola Moto E is powered off completely.<\/li>\n<li>Hold down the Volume and Power button together until it boots up in to Fastboot mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With the device in Fastboot mode connect it to your PC.<\/p>\n<p>On your PC, navigate to the <strong>Platform-Tools <\/strong>folder on your PC for ADB then press the Shift key and the right-mouse button to open a command prompt window.<\/p>\n<p>Then type the following command and press Enter when done.<\/p>\n<p><strong>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This will flash the custom recovery file from step 4 to the Motorola Moto E.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 5 \u2013 Root the Motorola Moto E<\/h2>\n<p>Now that the recovery mode has been flashed to the device you can disconnect it from your PC.<\/p>\n<p>On the Motorola Moto E select the Recovery option to enter the recovery menu that was just flashed to the device.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the device is in recovery mode select <strong>Install zip from SD <\/strong>and browse to the SuperSU zip file you saved to the device from step 3.<\/p>\n<p>SuperSU will be flashed to the device and then choose to reboot the device from the recovery menu.<\/p>\n<p>Once the device has been rebooted the device will now be rooted and you can disconnect it from your PC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[hoops name=&#8221;Rooting Guides Are No Longer Maintai [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":21,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[249],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-10207","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-motorola"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10207","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/21"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=10207"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10207\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":14728,"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10207\/revisions\/14728"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10207"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=10207"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.flexispy.com\/th\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=10207"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
