Rooting is done entirely by you at your own risk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This process will DELETE ALL DATA on the phone \u2013 proceed at your own risk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>What is needed to root the Sony Xperia E3 (D2212 DUAL)?<\/h2>\n<p>To root the Sony Xperia E3 you will need the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Sony Xperia E3 you wish to root<\/li>\n<li>Access to a PC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 1 \u2013 Unlock the bootloader of the Sony Xperia E3 (D2212 DUAL)<\/h2>\n<p>In order to root the device you must first unlock the bootloader. To do that follow the instructions <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.sonymobile.com\/unlockbootloader\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not all devices can have their bootloader unlocked. If your bootloader cannot be unlocked then the device cannot be rooted at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have unlocked your bootloader successfully move to the next step.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2 \u2013 Download the Sony Xperia E3 flash tool<\/h2>\n<p>Download the Sony Xperia E3 flash tool to your PC and save it in a convenient location such as your desktop. Once downloaded extract it to its own folder. You can get it from <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0B483BCJZRcZQV0MzM3V3TndoRlU\/view\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3 \u2013 Download and install Java on to your PC<\/h2>\n<p>So that the flash tool works you must download and install Java on to your PC which you can get from <a href=\"https:\/\/java.com\/en\/download\/index.jsp\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4 \u2013 Install the USB drivers for the Sony Xperia E3 using the Flash tool<\/h2>\n<p>Browse to the folder you created in step 1 and run <strong>Flashtool-drivers.exe <\/strong>and follow the steps to install the USB drivers for the device.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 5 \u2013 Check the model of the device before proceeding<\/h2>\n<p>This root method only works if the model of the device is D2212 DUAL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DO NOT PERFORM THIS ROOT METHOD ON A SONY XPERIA E3 WITH A DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBER. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the model number matches proceed to the next step.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 6 \u2013 Download the image file for the Sony Xperia E3 (D2212 DUAL)<\/h2>\n<p>In order to root the device you will flash to it an image file. To download the image file for the Sony Xperia E3 (D2212 DUAL) click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediafire.com\/download\/rrhhvhb5qk0kw6m\/boot_D2212_4.4.2.img\">here<\/a>. Save the image file to an easy to find location on your PC such as the desktop. There is no need to extract the file.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 7 \u2013 Download SuperSU<\/h2>\n<p>You will also need to manually copy the SuperSU program to the device after rooting it. You can download the file from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/redirect?q=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload.chainfire.eu%2F636%2FSuperSU%2FUPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37.zip&amp;redir_token=DG-dkniO3PTGC9LWBk9JEc85uXl8MTQyMTExMTUzMEAxNDIxMDI1MTMw\">here<\/a>. Save it to an easy to find location on your PC such as the desktop. There is no need to extract the file.<\/p>\n<p>Connect the device to your PC and copy the SuperSU zip file to it in an easy to find location such as the Downloads folder.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 8 \u2013 Run the Flash tool<\/h2>\n<p>On your PC run the Flash Tool from step 2 (make sure you run it with Administrative Rights on your PC).<\/p>\n<h2>Step 9 \u2013 Prepare the device<\/h2>\n<p>On the device itself hold down the volume up button and then connect it to your PC. If the device is correctly recognised the flash tool should say \u2018<strong>Device is connected in flash mode\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 10 \u2013 Boot the device in to Fastboot mode<\/h2>\n<p>Inside the Flash Tool click the flash button (the lightning bolt).<\/p>\n<p>Make sure <strong>Fastboot Mode <\/strong>is selected and then click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Click the <strong>Selected Kernel to Flash <\/strong>option and browse to the image file you saved to your PC from step 6.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MAKE SURE THE IMAGE FILE MATCHES THE MODEL NUMBER OF YOUR DEVICE!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Select the image file from step 6.<\/p>\n<p>Wait for the process to complete.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 11 \u2013 Install SuperSU<\/h2>\n<p>Press and hold down the power button on the device until a purple light appears on the device.
