Before performing any of these steps make sure you back up your Android device completely.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>This will ERASE EVERYTHING on the device \u2013 please understand this before proceeding!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>What is needed to root the OnePlus One?<\/h2>\n<p>In order to root the OnePlus One you will need the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The OnePlus One in your hand which you wish to root<\/li>\n<li>Access to a PC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 1 \u2013 Download and install Java on to your PC<\/h2>\n<p>In order to root the OnePlus One you must have Java installed on your PC. You can get the latest version from <a href=\"https:\/\/java.com\/en\/download\/manual.jsp\">here<\/a>. Download and run the installer to install Java on to your PC.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2 \u2013 Download the OnePlus One rooting tool to your PC<\/h2>\n<p>The first thing to do is download the OnePlus One rooting kit on to your PC. You can download it from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediafire.com\/?ljkoi4jfz7jj2pi\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once downloaded extract the toolkit to its own folder.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3 \u2013 Install the ADB drivers for the OnePlus One<\/h2>\n<p>On your PC run the toolkit you downloaded in step 2.<\/p>\n<p>When it appears click <strong>Download ADB drivers<\/strong> and follow the instructions and wait for that to be completed before moving to the next step.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4 &#8211; Enable USB debugging on the OnePlus One<\/h2>\n<p>On the device itself you must enable USB debugging before it can be rooted.<\/p>\n<p>Go to <strong>Settings &gt; About Phone<\/strong> and tap <strong>Build Number<\/strong> repeatedly until it says you are a developer.<\/p>\n<p>Tap back to exit the About Phone menu and then tap the new <strong>Developer Options<\/strong> menu.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure the <strong>USB Debugging<\/strong> option is <strong>checked<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 5 \u2013 Put the OnePlus One in to Fastboot mode<\/h2>\n<p>Connect the OnePlus One to your PC via the USB cable and tap <strong>Always Allow<\/strong> followed by <strong>OK<\/strong> on the device when prompted.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the OnePlus One toolkit click <strong>Enter fastboot\/recovery mode.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The device will then reboot and it will be in Fastboot mode.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 6 \u2013 Unlock the OnePlus One bootloader<\/h2>\n<p>You must unlock the bootloader before you can successfully root the device.<\/p>\n<p>With the OnePlus One still connected to your PC and in Fastboot mode, inside the OnePlus One toolkit on your PC, click <strong>Unlock Bootloader<\/strong>. The device will reboot and the bootloader will be unlocked \u2013 <strong>THIS WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Step 7 \u2013 Re-enable USB debugging<\/h2>\n<p>Now that the device has been factory restored you must enable USB debugging again as you did before.<\/p>\n<p>Follow step 4 again.<\/p>\n<p>Once done, proceed to the next step.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 8 \u2013 Flash a custom recovery to the OnePlus One<\/h2>\n<p>With the device still connected to your PC, inside the OnePlus One toolkit click <strong>Flash!.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When prompted make sure <strong>TWRP <\/strong>is selected and click <strong>Download.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A command prompt will appear.<\/p>\n<p>Close the command prompt and click <strong>Flash! <\/strong>inside the OnePlus One toolkit.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 9 \u2013 Boot the OnePlus One in to recovery mode<\/h2>\n<p>Using the OnePlus One toolkit click <strong>Boot <\/strong>and then click <strong>TWRP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The device should boot in to the custom recovery you installed in step 8.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 10 \u2013 Root the OnePlus One<\/h2>\n<p>With the device still connected to your PC from the previous steps and now in recovery mode tap <strong>Reboot <\/strong>on the device itself.<\/p>\n<p>With the device still in recovery mode tap <strong>System.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tap <strong>Swipe to Install <\/strong>when prompted to root the OnePlus One.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 11 \u2013 Install SuperSU on to the OnePlus One<\/h2>\n<p>On the device itself swipe down on the notification bar at the top of the screen to show all notifications.<\/p>\n<p>You should see a notification regarding installing SuperSU (SuperSU Installer).<\/p>\n<p>Tap <strong>Install SuperSU <\/strong>and then tap <strong>Play.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Play Store will open with SuperSU listed.<\/p>\n<p>Tap <strong>Install.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once it has been installed tap <strong>Open.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Update the SuperSU binary when asked by tapping <strong>Continue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tap <strong>Normal <\/strong>when asked to update SuperSU without using a custom recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Once this has been completed the OnePlus One will have been successfully rooted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[hoops name=&#8221;Rooting Guides Are No Longer Maintained&#8221;] This guide will show you how to root the OnePlus One.
